Over the past 18 years, Brent has worked primarily with adolescents in residential and day treatment settings with a focus on substance abuse problems, mental health issues and sexually deviant behaviors. Brent has expertise in working with adolescents and adults with substance abuse disorders and has supervised practitioners in the assessment and treatment of individuals charged with substance abuse related crimes as well as domestic violence offenses. Brent spent four years in Massachusetts working with individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses. He worked at McLean Hospital providing care to children, adolescents, adults and geriatric patients in an acute, inpatient setting. He has worked closely with Utah's Juvenile Court and has treated adolescents in the temporary custody of Utah's Division of Child and Family Services and the Division of Juvenile Justice Services. He later worked as a trauma social worker at a local Trauma 1 hospital. Brent's current role at the Center for Human Potential is Director of Business Services and EAP Coordinator. In addition to his responsibilities providing consulting and education to businesses, Brent provides individual therapy to older adults in assisted living facilities. | Publications/Presentations | Brent has presented to conferences locally and statewide on a variety of topics. He presented at the 2007 Joining Forces conference on: “Sibling Incest: The Healing Process.” He has also presented to private organizations and provided workshops on topics including how to address the issue of Vicarious Trauma with attorneys and other professionals providing services to individuals with extensive trauma histories. Brent is also a member of the Utah Leadership Institute. He has presented to Utah State managers—including those involved in the Certified Public Managers program—on topics including Adapting to Change in Uncertain Times and Minimizing the Effects of Workplace Stress. |

Brent loves reading and writing poetry, watching French, Italian and Russian films and traveling. He is fluent in French. Brent lives in Salt Lake City with his life partner of 13 years. |
