How Much Do EAP Services Cost?

The Services offered by the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) of the Center for Human Potential are FREE to all qualified employees and their immediate families.

Who Will Know That I Have Called?

The services provided to eligible employees and their families are treated with strict confidentiality.  Your boss and your fellow employees will not know that you have contacted the EAP unless you tell them.

There are three notable exceptions under which information regarding your involvement may be revealed.  One is by order of the courts; two is if you are referred directly by your supervisor or a representative of your employer as a condition for continued employment; and finally, State Law requires that information about the abuse of a child or an older adult must be reported to authorities.

Who is Eligible?

All full and part-time employees are eligible for services through the Employee Assistance Program.  EAP services are also available to immediate family members of employees at no cost.  An immediate family member is defined as father, mother, sister, brother, or child.

Do the Problems that I Call About Have to be Work Related?

You may contact the EAP about anything that is causing you or a member of your immediate family distress.  If the help that you require is not available through the EAP, a staff member will help you find the resources and help that you need.  Problems brought to the EAP do not have to be work related.

How do I get Help?

You can contact the EAP directly by calling our main office or you may e-mail us at EAP@myeap.net   An appointment can also be made through your human resources office or through your company's EAP liaison.

What happens when I call?

When you call the office an EAP staff person will ask you some basic questions to determine the type of resources that would be best suited to your needs.  This triage session can be done over the phone or in person at our main office.

After this introductory information is gathered options will be offered that are available to address the problem needing attention.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

Appointments are usually scheduled within 24-48 hours or as soon as you are available.

How are the services offered by the EAP different from the mental health services available through my health insurance?

The mental health services offered by your health insurance plan differ from services provided through the EAP in two important ways.  First, most health insurance companies require that a mental illness diagnosis be given to someone receiving counseling (psychotherapy).  Your EAP does not have the same requirement and counseling may be sought for anything that is causing personal difficulty.  The second important difference is that EAP services are designed to be brief - limited to three sessions.  A referral can be made to another service provider if additional counseling is required.
